Cucumis melo L. Germplasm in Tunisia: Unexploited Sources of Resistance to Fusarium Wilt

چکیده
Breeding for disease resistance has been one of the most important research objectives in melon last few decades. Fusarium wilt caused by oxysporum f. sp. melonis (Fom) is among threatening fungal diseases along Mediterranean coast, affecting yield and quality. Since genetic best sustainable strategies that can be used to control this pathogen, 27 Tunisian accessions collected from local farmers have tested using phenotypic molecular approaches identify new sources directly as cultivars affected areas or donors breeding programs. The evaluations, artificial inoculations, showed several resistant pathogenic races Fom. Additionally, analysis revealed 13 out carried Fom-1 gene (7 homozygous state 6 heterozygous state), confirming their 0 2. Two them were also identified Fom-2 gene, being 1. Furthermore, two with a high level virulent race 1.2 reported. This germplasm should explored potential source genes programs develop cultivars.

Characterization of Flax Germplasm for Resistance to Fusarium Wilt
Fusarium wilt of flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lini (Fol) is an economically important disease that can result in severe yield losses. Due to the pathogen’s ability to survive in soil for long periods, it is essential to identify fusarium wilt resistant flax varieties. The objectives of the study were to phenotype and compare a recombinant inbred line (RIL) p...

Introduction: The genetic diversity of melon groups has been characterized using molecular analyses (5, 6, & 8). Random amplified polymorphic DNA markers have been used by García et al. (1) and Staub et al. (7) to assess the genetic diversity of elite germplasm. Likewise, Mliki et al. (3) and Nakata (4) used the same markers employed by Staub et al. (7) to define the diversity among African and...
متن کاملThe genome of melon (Cucumis melo L.).
We report the genome sequence of melon, an important horticultural crop worldwide. We assembled 375 Mb of the double-haploid line DHL92, representing 83.3% of the estimated melon genome. We predicted 27,427 protein-coding genes, which we analyzed by reconstructing 22,218 phylogenetic trees, allowing mapping of the orthology and paralogy relationships of sequenced plant genomes. We observed the ...

during 2003-2004, a number of rhizospheric soil samples were collected of either healthy or symptomatic field grown melon plants infected with fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis race1/2 (fom). twenty one bacterial strains capable of inhibiting fom including burkholderia sp., bacillus sp., streptomyces sp. and pseudomonas fluorescens were isolated. the strains colonized roots of “long melon” cult...
متن کاملPattern of genetic diversity among Fusarium wilt resistant castor germplasm accessions (Ricinus communis L.)
Wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ricini (Wr) Gordon is one of the major yield losing diseases in castor. Cultivating wilt resistant cultivars is an effective strategy to control the disease. Utilization of diverse sources of stable resistance is a prerequisite for durable resistance breeding. The experiment was conducted to identify genetically diverse resistant sources in castor germpla...
